Viking Inspiration and Historical Authenticity

The Viking axe head we offer is inspired by an archaeological find from the late 10th century, discovered on the Swedish island of Gotland (Stenstugu, Hejde). This historical piece is currently on display at the Gotlands Museum in Visby.

• Material: High-carbon steel (not stainless!), with a blunt edge.
• Total length: Approximately 21.5 cm (from the back to the edge).
• Edge length: Approximately 16 cm.
• Thickness: Approximately 4.5 mm (edge approximately 2.5 mm).
• Eye: Approximately 35 mm x 23 mm.
• Weight: Approximately 680 g.
• Supplied: WITHOUT a shaft.

The broad axe blade is forged from high-carbon steel and features a unique design: a blunt edge and an open section forming a cross in its center. Additionally, the scale oxide layer gives it a rustic and authentic character.

Usage and Purpose

This Gotlandic Viking axe head with cross motif is designed as a collectible piece or for decoration/display purposes. You can also use it as an accessory by fitting it with an axe wedge to complement a costume and achieve a perfect transformation into a proud warrior.
